We have earned a reputation over the last 3 decades for suppling the very best meats to the catering and hospitality sectors.
We pride ourselves on meating the needs of our customers – hotels, restaurants, bars, cafes, caterers, nursing homes, take aways and all the food outlets we have supplied over the last 30 years and we are excited about continuing to bring this professional and friendly service to all our customers for many years to come.
Our Story
“We are serious about traditional butchery – quality of produce and customer satisfaction.” Our story begins in 1990 when company founders Michael Bermingham and Karl Freeman completed their apprenticeships. Starting M&K Meats from a former butcher shop (Gormleys) in Driminagh, Dublin, in 1991 the company offered local retail sales and also began a wholesale side of the business suppling local and city centre restaurants. “ We always enjoyed having that local butcher shop feel and we have worked hard to keep that at the centre of all we have done over the last 30 years.”
In 1993 we moved to a larger butcher’s shop in Tallaght village from where we traded successfully and happily for the next ten years. The village atmosphere was a perfect place to both serve our loyal and wonderful customers from Tallaght and the surrounding areas and also the perfect base to supply our wholesale customers from too. We had the best of both worlds really and it was during our time in Tallaght the we really built the wholesale side of the business – we leased additional cold storage space in Crumlin and acquired a small fleet of delivery vehicles, while continuing to meet and improve our quality and standards.
We did however realise during our time in Tallaght that we were out growing our premises, so we excitedly started to put together and design a custom-built meat processing facility with our focus firmly on creating a top quality meat factory. We worked closely with the Department of Agriculture and we created our present home – M&K Meats export licenced production facility and factory in Greenogue Business Park, Rathcoole Co Dublin. We moved to Greenogue in 2003 and have served our customers from here ever since.
Our hands on, small business feel means a lot to us and has enabled us to provide the best quality meats and friendly service to some of the best restaurants and hotels in the country and we are genuinely grateful each and every time a customer chooses to do business with us.
